First Responders

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), it has been estimated that around 30% of first responders have a diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health condition like depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Only 20% of the general population is estimated to suffer from such mental health concerns, meaning that the average first responder might be 50% more likely to need mental health treatments. It is also known that many people with mental health difficulties also struggle with addiction, and vice versa.

At SOBA New Jersey, we are proud to offer a dual diagnosis program for first responders. While going through a dual diagnosis treatment program, your care team will acknowledge how mental health difficulties can cause or worsen drug addiction. The treatment plan made for you will focus on tackling both mental health concerns and addiction at the same time, rather than approaching them separately, which was the common methodology in years past.
