What Should I Bring?
What incoming clients should bring to treatment at SOBA New Jersey.
Clients in treatment at SOBA New Jersey and individuals that live in our facilities may bring the following items. However, our staff reserves the right to take away certain items depending on the level of care a client is treated at. Any and all personal belongings will always be returned to our clients as treatment progresses.
- Health Insurance ID Card
- Driver’s License ID
- Prescription Card for Medications
- Any current prescriptions in a properly labeled bottle. NO CAPSULES ARE PERMITTED.
- Cash (We recommend no more than $100)
- 10-14 days of comfortable, casual clothing (Inappropriate, sheer, or revealing clothing is NOT permitted)
- Remember to pack for the seasons (If winter is around the corner pack warm clothes)
- Athletic clothing for exercise in our fitness center
- Sneakers, or walking shoes
- Backpack, book bag, or carry all
- All required toiletries including toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. (Alcohol based products such as Listerine, hand sanitizer, and certain supplements are prohibited.)
- Makeup is allowed
- All towels, linens, and blankets will be provided but you may bring your own as well.
- After 30 days you may have Phones, Laptops, and other electronics. (Our housing staff will hold these for the first 30 days)
What NOT to Bring.
What incoming clients should not bring to treatment at SOBA New Jersey.
The following items are prohibited at SOBA New Jersey and should not be brought into our treatment or living facilities. If clients bring any of the following items our staff has the right to confiscate the items until the end of treatment. SOBA New Jersey reserves the right to add to this list

Do not bring any drugs, alcohol, or drug/alcohol paraphernalia

Do not bring any over-the-counter, non-prescription medication

Do not bring any sheer, revealing, or sexually provocative clothing

Do not bring clothing with drug or alcohol references

Do not bring any pornography

Do not bring any mirrors or glass picture frames

Do not bring products containing alcohol such as mouthwash, perfume, cologne, etc.

Do not bring weapons of any kind including firearms, knives, scissors, sharp instruments, etc.

What ages do you treat?
We treat adults 18 years of age and older. We have a specialty track for young adults (18-25) that helps young adult clients to focus on school and joining the workforce.
How long does treatment last?
Treatment length is determined by a client’s individual needs and the progress they make during treatment. A typical detox lasts between 5 and 10 days. Our Residential program lasts up to 30 days. Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient treatment varies in length but typically consists of 1-3 sessions per week. Long term rehab provides the best outcomes, so our full continuum of care can last up to six months.

Do you provide transportation?
Yes, we provide courtesy client pick up for clients within 5 hours of our detox facility in New Brunswick, NJ. Talk to an admissions coordinator to schedule pick up.
