A simple guide to Horizon coverage for drug and alcohol care.

Many people put off getting help because they worry they cannot afford it. We never want cost to be the reason someone goes without care. That is why SOBA New Jersey works closely with both local and national insurance providers, including out of network options when possible, to make treatment more accessible.

We are glad to partner with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. If you have a Horizon plan, your benefits may help cover part of your care here, including support for substance use and mental health needs. Even if you are not sure what your plan includes, or you think you might be out of network, our admissions team can walk you through your options and help you understand what is available, so you can move forward without added financial stress.

Understanding Out-of-Network Care

When you receive healthcare insurance, certain providers, doctors, clinics, and hospitals will be “in-network” with the insurance company. As an “in-network” provider, some or all the costs for care will be covered by the insurer, which means the insurance policyholder will enjoy a discount on their medical bills.

An “out-of-network” healthcare provider is not partnered with the insurance company or does not accept that policy. Because of this, healthcare services provided in this way can costlier – unless you work with a specialized healthcare provider such as SOBA New Jersey. We are out-of-network with most major insurance providers, which means you and our team of specialists get to decide what treatment options and therapies you can use, not an insurance adjuster. We also work with out-of-network insurance providers like Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey to find more ways to make more of our treatments affordable to more people. You might be eligible for partial or full coverage for certain treatments thanks to our partnership with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield.

How Horizon coverage can support a safe, supported start to recovery

At SOBA New Jersey, we offer medically supervised detox for anyone who needs a safe, supported start. If substance use has become hard to stop on your own, detox may be the right first step. You will be cared for by experienced medical staff who monitor symptoms around the clock and help you taper off comfortably. The goal is to keep withdrawal as safe and manageable as possible so you can move into the next phase of care with stability.

During withdrawal, serious side effects can occur, such as:

How Much Will Treatment Cost with Horizon BCBS?

This service is for individuals in need of drug or alcohol detox that are unable to find transportation to our facility. This service includes transportation from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
