Addiction Treatment & Insurance FAQs

Professional treatment is a critical element of successfully recovering from drug or alcohol addiction. However, the costs associated with such treatment can oftentimes be prohibitive, stopping people from seeking and receiving the care they need.

At SOBA New Jersey, we recognize that many people have questions about how much rehab costs, whether insurance pays for addiction treatment and mental health services, and related issues. To that end, we have put together a helpful FAQ answering some of the most commonly asked questions about insurance coverage for addiction treatment, as well as self-pay options, associated costs, and more. Continue reading to find the answers you need, or contact us directly to speak to one of our admissions coordinators about our New Jersey drug and alcohol rehab, accepted insurance plans, and self-pay options.

Does insurance cover drug and alcohol rehab?

Different insurance providers offer varying coverage when it comes to addiction treatment, rehab, and mental health services. Many provide partial or full coverage for these and related services. Our admissions coordinators can verify your insurance benefits if you are unable to get the information you need from your insurance provider.

How much does rehab cost?

It is almost impossible to give a general answer as to how much rehab costs, as each treatment facility is different. That being said, the average cost of alcohol or drug addiction treatment and rehab ranges from several thousand to tens of thousands of dollars. The amount depends on a wide variety of factors, including the type of treatment provided, the length of the person’s stay, whether the person requires residential (inpatient) or outpatient care, the length of treatment, and more. Our team is happy to provide information specific to your situation; please contact us online or call us today to learn more.

What is the difference between “in-network” and “out-of-network” insurance coverage?

Nearly all insurance carriers offer policyholders access to a network of primary care physicians, specialists, pharmacies, hospitals, and other healthcare providers. To be included in this network, these providers must typically meet certain requirements. They must also agree to offer covered services (under the specific health plan) at lower rates in exchange for being in the insurance provider’s network. Providers who are not within this network are considered “out-of-network” and can charge full price for services provided. Often, insurance still covers some (or even most) of the costs of seeing an out-of-network provider. However, the out-of-network provider can charge the difference between the covered amount and the full cost. This means you may end up paying some portion of the total cost of the service out of pocket.

Why isn’t SOBA New Jersey in-network with my insurance?

We remain a private facility so that we can continue to deliver the highest quality of care possible. Our advised length of stay, number of therapy sessions, therapy types, and other aspects of treatment are tailored to provide proven, lasting results for our clients. These factors remain determined by our trained professionals—not the insurers—in an effort to ensure that the care we give provides successful results.

How do I make sure my insurance pays out-of-network?

Don’t worry! One of our admissions coordinators will verify your insurance benefits to make sure they work for our treatment program. Plus, we provide courtesy insurance billing for out-of-network benefits. This makes it easy for our clients to get the care they deserve without the worry or hassle of dealing with the insurance companies.
