Our Approach

Unfortunately, there are a lot of addiction treatment centers that promise more than they deliver. We understand how complex addiction is, and treatment plans reflect that. Our treatment plans are, first and foremost, always based on each client’s individual needs. There’s never going to be any two treatment plans that are the same.

We also approach the treatment of addiction holistically. We know that it’s much more than just misusing drugs and alcohol.

Addiction is a complicated disease. It’s a chronic illness that, over time, has more significant effects on your brain, body, and quality of life. It also diminishes relationships, can ruin careers, and can eventually, when untreated, lead to death. Overcoming addiction isn’t as simple as abstaining from drugs or alcohol, although that’s critical too.

Truly being in recovery is about delving into the root causes of your addiction. You have to learn how you got there initially so that you can begin to look forward.

Our treatment plans, if you’re looking for a Paterson drug and alcohol rehab center, take place in three phases. These phases are general since, again, everyone is unique.

Overall, the expectation as part of a treatment program at SOBA New Jersey is that first, you’ll detox with medical supervision. From there, you can begin your actual treatment plan. Once that happens, you can begin phase three. Phase three is exciting because it’s part of your recovery where you’re reentering society, prepared with the tools you’ve learned for a lifetime of freedom from addiction.

Other elements of our programs that make SOBA NJ unique include:

  • Dedicated case managers and aftercare.
  • Licensed, expert clinicians and doctors who specialize in addiction medicine.
  • Around-the-clock professional support.
  • Luxury amenities and gourmet meals.
  • Travel assistance.

While we aren’t a Paterson drug and alcohol rehab, we are close by in New Brunswick. We encourage you to reach out to the admissions team to learn more about our effective and evidence-based approach to addiction treatment.

Begin Your Journey

Following a Continuum of Care

A continuum-of-care approach to treating addiction means your rehab program isn’t one-and-done. Instead, it’s a process, and it can be changed and adapted as your needs shift along the way. Most people go through several phases of treatment in settings that are increasingly less intensive, but only as they’re ready.

Our levels of care at SOBA New Jersey include:

When you initially stop using drugs or alcohol, you may have withdrawal symptoms. These can range from uncomfortable to life-threatening. Medical detox is an important way to stay safe and comfortable, with clinical care, supervision, and medicines as needed.

Our short-term residential programs include onsite living in our comfortable, luxurious facility. A short-term residential program usually follows a medical detox. Residential treatment takes place in the same building as the detox level of care, ensuring a simple, seamless transition.

For additional support, some clients need a long-term residential program, usually lasting six months or more. Long-term programs include counseling, both one-on-one and in a group. Group therapy is a way to help you build a social support network and a sense of community. If you’ve had many relapses, tried shorter-term programs and didn’t complete them, or have a severe substance use disorder, a long-term residential program could be a good fit.

A partial hospitalization program at our New Jersey center combines elements of more intensive inpatient rehab, but you can return home when your treatment ends. You usually commit to at least several days of treatment each week for most of the day.

An intensive outpatient program gives you added support and structure, but you’re also out in the world exploring what your recovery is going to look like.

Our traditional outpatient programs are also available but are usually best for someone who’s completed at least one higher level of care. There’s a lot of flexibility and freedom to be accountable for your recovery with outpatient programs, but you can still feel that sense of support from our treatment team.

Addictions we treat at our center include:

  • Alcohol
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Meth
  • Fentanyl
  • Opioids
  • Heroin
  • Marijuana
  • Prescription drugs
  • Stimulants

Specialized Programs at SOBA NJ

Along with different levels of care and a continuum of care model, we have several specialized programs available to clients and their families.

For example, we are a provider of dual diagnosis treatment.

Around half of all people who have a substance use disorder also have a co-occurring mental health disorder, and that goes the other way as well. It’s vital that these conditions both be treated at the same time. Otherwise, untreated mental health disorders can disrupt your recovery and make the chances of relapsing higher.

Our dual diagnosis program integrates mental health with your addiction treatment services.

We also offer family programs. Addiction is a disease that heavily affects family members and loved ones. By including them in the treatment process, it’s possible to unravel negative patterns and feelings and help rebuild relationships.
