Biography

Jacob is a Primary Therapist at SOBA New Jersey’s Outpatient Treatment Center. Having received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Rowan University, he went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work at Rutgers University. Jacob then went on to become a New Jersey Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) Intern.

Prior to his work at SOBA New Jersey, Jacob interned as a case manager for TCNJ CARES, Division of Student Affairs, where he evaluated and recommended appropriate programs and resources that aligned with the students’ needs. Jacob worked as a graduate intern for the TCNJ CARES food bank, The SHOP, and helped students and people in the area with their food and personal care product needs. Jacob later became an intern at SOBA New Jersey, where he ran groups as a Group Facilitator, and worked with clients to figure out their goals for case management. During his time as an intern at SOBA New Jersey, Jacob also spent his evenings and weekends working as a Behavioral Assistant for the Legacy Counseling Center. As a Behavioral Assistant, he would assist with therapy for the youths he met with on a weekly basis through action plans created by the primary therapist on the case. After his internship with SOBA New Jersey, Jacob would be hired as a Primary Therapist at SOBA New Jersey, where he works with client’s through providing individual therapy sessions, and family sessions, with a primary focus on the client’s addiction and steps towards recovery.

Jacob practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing techniques (MI). Jacob is passionate about giving people the tools and education they need to help themselves and change their lives for the better.

In his free time, Jacob enjoys going to the gym, spending time with friends, and playing video games.
