At SOBA New Jersey's Voorhees location, a full life of recovery can start without having to leave everything you know. Our addiction treatment program brings world-class clinical standards into your everyday life so that you can recover without putting your life on hold. Our facility in Voorhees provides you or someone you love with the resources necessary to recover from alcohol addiction, opioid addiction, or co-occurring mental health conditions..

Our Voorhees center is designed for people who are medically stable and ready to focus on therapeutic engagement while continuing to live at home. The programming isn’t just a more convenient alternative. It is real, evidence-backed treatment and can provide the specific type of care that you need, delivered by a highly trained, compassionate staff of clinical professionals who work collaboratively to create a customized treatment plan for you.

The Impact of Substance Use Disorder on South Jersey Families

The Camden County area — including Voorhees and surrounding communities — is not immune to the substance use disorder epidemic that has been affecting the state and the rest of the country. Camden County reported over 300 overdose deaths in 2022, which reflects the severity of this crisis.[1] Substance abuse continues to impact the recovery of people from alcohol, opioid, and co-occurring mental health issues throughout the region, where nearly 1 in 3 emergency room admissions involve opioids.[2]

Many people who would benefit from addiction treatment cannot take weeks or months off from work, family, and their responsibilities. Outpatient treatment programs exist for this exact reason; a growing body of research confirms that outpatient addiction treatment programs are effective, with studies showing comparable outcomes to inpatient care for many individuals when programs are structured and consistent.[3] By providing treatment with peer support, a well-defined level of care, and structure based on evidence-based treatment approaches, long-term recovery is very attainable. SOBA New Jersey’s Voorhees recovery center remains an approved addiction provider for people and families throughout Camden County and South Jersey.

Treatment Programs at Our Voorhees Center

Our Voorhees center provides programs that use a wide range of therapeutic approaches and techniques designed to give clients a full complement of clinical options, including comprehensive, meaningful structure and support, allowing them to continue their lives in the community while receiving treatment for their addiction or mental health disorder.

Medical Detox

Our PHP is a highly structured level of care for individuals who need intensive support to overcome addiction and co-occurring mental health struggles. Clients attend treatment for several hours of the day, most days of the week, where they will participate in evidence-based therapies that will help stabilize and build coping skills. Often a step down from inpatient care, PHP also serves as a strong starting point for individuals with stable home environments that still need full-time support.

Intensive Outpatient Program

We offer an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for clients seeking a more structured approach to treatment but not wanting to be in a residential treatment facility. Our IOP provides clients with clinical support three to five days per week, using a combination of group therapy, individual counseling, psychoeducation, and skill-building sessions, all scheduled around clients' real-life obligations. This is the ideal program for clients stepping down from either inpatient or PHP level of care who are still needing more than once per week counseling, but who cannot commit to attending full-day treatment programs. Clients are able to remain in their homes and maintain their connections to family, jobs, and community, while receiving serious treatment for their addiction or mental health disorder.

Outpatient Program (OP)

Our standard Outpatient Program (OP) is for clients who are no longer in need of more intensive care and who are focused on maintaining and deepening their recovery over time. With a less frequent session schedule than our IOP, OP continues to keep clients connected with their treatment team and their recovery-oriented peers while providing clients time to practice skills learned in the treatment program in a real-world environment. The focus of sessions is on preventing relapse, developing coping skills, addressing real-life challenges, and fostering continued personal growth so that the client will be living their recovery rather than finishing their recovery.

Alumni and Continuing Care

Completion of a treatment program is a significant step in the continued journey of recovery, not an end to that journey. All clients receive an individualized aftercare plan from their clinical team that is developed collaboratively before completion of their treatment program, outlining the different types of aftercare supports available to maintain their lifelong recovery, including referrals to local support groups, alumni programs, continued outpatient treatment, peer support, and other health-related services based on their individual needs. We will continue to be a source of support long after the client has completed our program.

Therapies Offered at Our Voorhees Recovery Center

All programs offered at SOBA NJ use evidence-based practices. Our Voorhees treatment team employs various therapeutic modalities to assist clients with the emotional, psychological, and behavioral aspects of addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders, including:

Adventure Therapy

This experiential therapy option uses structured activities guided by a therapist that support emotional and behavioral change.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

This well-researched therapy approach helps clients in identifying and changing the cognitive patterns that contribute to their substance use and behavioral issues.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT was developed for treating borderline personality disorder and is effective for teaching clients skills for regulating emotion, tolerating distress, and developing healthy relationships.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

This therapy modality is designed to help clients develop the psychological flexibility needed to pursue a values-based recovery.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help clients process trauma that underlies or co-occurs with their substance use

Family Therapy

Addiction doesn’t just affect the person who struggles with it. It affects the people who love them as well. Family therapy supports the repairing and strengthening of family relationships that are often adversely affected as a result of substance use disorders.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness helps clients develop a non-judgmental awareness of present activities as a way to manage drug cravings, learn to tolerate distress, and prevent relapse.

SMART Recovery

SMART Recovery is a science-based alternative to the 12-step model, offering accountability and peer support.

Seeking Safety

Seeking Safety is a unique recovery program for those who have co-occurring trauma and substance use issues.

SuperHealth

SuperHealth combines movement and mindfulness into treatment, giving clients a better awareness of their needs while connecting on a deeper level with others.

Nutrition & Wellness

Overcoming addiction is more than just mental; it is also physical. Our nutrition and wellness services help clients restore physical health and strengthen their body’s ability to heal.
