What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?
An IOP is a non-residential treatment program that provides multiple hours of clinical service per week.[1]
IOPs are less intense than inpatient treatment and partial hospitalization programs; however, they are more structured than standard outpatient services. Rather than remaining overnight at the treatment center, our IOP clients attend scheduled programming which may consist of group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, psychoeducation, relapse prevention, case management, and medication management when necessary.
IOP can help clients establish continued stability post-detoxification, post-residential treatment, or post-PHP. IOP can also provide clients with meaningful behavioral health services without requiring them to commit to a full day of programming.
