Why Accessible Recovery Support in Fairfield Is Critical
The state has been among the most affected by the substance use crisis, with thousands of families across Essex County and the broader North Jersey region touched by addiction each year. Fortunately, suspected overdose deaths dropped to 182 during the first half of 2024, a 21% decrease from the 230 confirmed deaths for the same time frame in 2023. [1] This decline also corresponds with a 26% decrease in overdose deaths across the state during that same period. [2]
Completing a primary treatment program is a significant milestone; however, research has shown that the longer you have access to structured recovery support services such as sober living, family programs, and alumni support networks after your initial treatment concludes, the more likely you are to be successful in maintaining your sobriety. [3]
Transitioning from intensive, structured treatment to independent living is one of the most vulnerable times of your recovery journey. Therefore, having access to a stable, supportive environment during this transition isn’t a luxury — it’s a clinical necessity. Our Fairfield rehab support center was constructed to fill this clinical need by providing the structure, community, and comprehensive range of service options that make long-term sobriety possible for recovering individuals living throughout Essex and Morris Counties.
A Whole Recovery Support System
SOBA’s Fairfield support center is an environment created for individuals ready to create a new life in recovery. We recognize that no two recovery journeys look the same, which is why our services are designed to be flexible, personalized, and deeply integrated with the addiction treatment programs that clients are engaged in. Every feature of our Fairfield center exists to make the work of staying sober more achievable and more sustainable.
Our supportive services are integrated into comprehensive treatment programs, ensuring all clients have a seamless experience in their care at any stage of their recovery.
All individuals who seek assistance in managing alcohol and drug addiction are treated as friends in need and not as a case number. Each client receives an individualized recovery plan that is customized to their current needs, circumstances, and goals to increase the likelihood of their success.
Let’s Begin Writing Your Next Chapter Together
Transitional Sober Living
Transitional Sober Living provides a structured, substance-free, supportive living environment that develops with you as your recovery continues to grow and change. As you move through the various phases of your recovery treatment plan, we’ll ensure you have the right level of support at all times. Our sober living apartments provide a sense of home rather than feeling like a facility. We provide housekeeping, cable TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a wide variety of additional comforts to create a safe, dignified, and stable living environment that supports your recovery. At SOBA NJ’s sober living community, you will not have to sacrifice comfort to have a structured sober living experience.
Family Program
Addiction affects the entire family system, making it necessary for healing and recovery to encompass the entire family. Through education, guided therapeutic experiences, and open communication, we help families repair trust, develop healthy boundaries, and learn how to support their loved one's sobriety without enabling old patterns. When families heal together, recovery becomes stronger for everyone.
Nutrition and Wellness
Restoring your physical body when recovering from addiction is perhaps the most neglected, yet one of the most important, aspects of the recovery process. At SOBA New Jersey’s Fairfield support center, our professional chefs prepare delicious, quality, and nourishing meals to promote optimal healing as you work on your recovery journey. Our chefs have decades of experience working in high-end restaurants and managing full kitchen staff, bringing a level of care and expertise to mealtime that sets us apart. Eating well isn’t just a comfort here; it’s part of your treatment plan.
Graduation and Alumni Program
Recovery is not over at the end of your treatment program, and neither is our commitment to you. SOBA’s alumni program provides all clients with the opportunity to stay connected socially and emotionally for as long as they need after they’ve completed their treatment program. Whether you need encouragement during a difficult stretch, connection with others who understand your experience, or simply a community that holds you accountable, our aftercare network ensures the path ahead remains clear. We stay by your side because we know that lasting sobriety is built over a lifetime.
SOBA Accepts Most Major Health Insurance Providers
At SOBA, we believe that finances should not be a barrier to obtaining treatment. Our admissions team works with most major insurance companies to quickly verify your benefits, so you can concentrate on what is most important — your recovery. All insurance verifications are completed quickly, privately, and with no obligation.
Licensed, Accredited, and Held to the Highest Standards
When seeking addiction treatment in Fairfield or elsewhere in the state, checking for licensure and accreditation is important. These credentials will help ensure that the facility meets high standards for clinical quality, safety, and ethical practices. SOBA New Jersey has achieved licensure and accreditation as proof of our dedication to excellence.
Why SOBA Is the Right Choice for Fairfield-Area Families
Families in the Fairfield area can choose from a variety of addiction treatment options; however, the majority of those options do not offer the clinical depth, degree of individualized treatment, and holistic wraparound support provided by SOBA New Jersey. Here are several of the characteristics that differentiate us from the competition:
-
Individualized Care: We create the substance abuse treatment plan and support programs based on each individual client’s needs and treatment goals because cookie-cutter (one-size-fits-all) programs rarely produce long-term success.
-
Sober Living That Feels Like Home: Our transitional housing programs feature comfortable, clean facilities that provide real stability, self-respect, and supportive care during this important period in a person’s life.
-
Culinary Excellence During Recovery: The culinary staff at SOBA New Jersey consists of trained professionals with extensive executive restaurant experience and will provide clients with the highest-quality nutritional support and meal preparation. Clients will feel and observe this difference from the first day they enter our program.
-
Family-Centered Recovery: We will make every effort to involve the client’s family in recovery, as the strength of a person’s support network affects their long-term success.
-
Lifetime Alumni Support: Our graduation and alumni program ensures clients never feel like they've been left behind once active treatment concludes.
-
Statewide Clinical Network: The SOBA NJ network of treatment centers allows all clients continued access to all levels of clinical care from detox and residential treatment to PHP, IOP, and outpatient.
-
Dual Diagnosis Mental Health Treatment: We recognize that for treatment to be truly effective, care plans need to take into account both substance abuse and the underlying mental health conditions that influence it.
Full Clinical Treatment Available Across SOBA New Jersey Locations
The SOBA New Jersey Fairfield support center is just one component of a broader integrated network of care. Clients receiving services through the support center also have access to the full continuum of clinical addiction treatment programs across all of SOBA NJ’s facilities, allowing every client to continue receiving the clinical care and support needed throughout their journey.
Medical Detox
For individuals who have developed a physical dependency on alcohol, opioids, or other addictive substances, medically supervised detoxification is often a critical first step in recovery. Withdrawal symptoms from some substances can put your life at risk, making the need for medically supervised detoxification critical for the health and safety of the recovering individual. At SOBA, we provide around-the-clock medical supervision for our detox clients, utilizing medically assisted interventions to support their detoxification as safely as possible before they transition to the next phase of their recovery.
Residential Treatment
Residential treatment provides a highly structured, immersive environment for clients to step away from day-to-day triggers and stressors so that they can solely focus on their recovery. Individualized therapy, group therapy, recovery skills development, and positive peer interaction will help establish the foundation needed for an individual to achieve long-term recovery.
Partial Hospitalization Program
PHP offers intensive, structured clinical programming during the day while allowing clients to return home or to a sober living environment in the evening. PHP is an ideal step-down transition for clients after completing residential treatment or as a starting point for those who need structured support during the day without requiring 24-hour supervision while they find their footing in their recovery journey.
Intensive Outpatient Program
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) allows you to receive flexible, high-quality clinical care while you continue your day-to-day responsibilities, such as work, school, or family obligations. Clients attend multiple sessions per week, continuing therapeutic work while beginning to integrate recovery practices into their daily lives. IOP at SOBA NJ is a fundamental component of our continuum of recovery support services, serving as a link between higher levels of recovery support and moving towards living independently in sobriety.
Outpatient Program
Clients who have participated in higher levels of care or who need less intensive addiction recovery services will find that continued recovery support through outpatient treatment allows them to maintain accountability and connection to a community while continuing to progress towards their new life in recovery. The outpatient treatment programs at SOBA NJ pair well with the transitional sober living program offered through the Fairfield rehab support center, creating a truly seamless recovery experience.
Evidence-Based Therapies Provided by SOBA
Effective addiction treatment requires more than abstinence; it requires understanding the patterns that cause substance use and developing the tools to live differently. To achieve lasting wellness, the recovering individual must understand the underlying patterns that caused them to use a substance in the first place and develop the skills to live differently. At SOBA, we offer a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, each selected and customized to the individual client’s needs and treatment goals.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is one of the most common and researched forms of treatment for addiction. It helps patients identify and challenge distorted thoughts that create negative behavior patterns leading to substance use, replacing those thoughts with healthier behaviors and coping strategies.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
DBT is an effective therapy for clients who struggle with emotions, impulsivity, or self-destructive behavior. DBT teaches four core skills essential for achieving lasting recovery: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT teaches individuals to accept painful thoughts and emotions rather than avoid them, and to commit to behaviors aligned with personal values. It encourages flexibility and helps make positive, lasting changes in behavior without the need to eradicate all difficult internal experiences.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a trauma-focused therapy that helps clients process and reframe distressing memories that may underlie their substance use. It is especially effective for clients experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, or other unresolved traumatic events that contributed to their addiction.
Mindfulness-Based Approaches
Mindfulness teaches clients how to observe their thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations non-judgmentally in order to develop self-awareness and focus on the present so that they may recognize triggers, manage cravings, and maintain long-term sobriety.
Seeking Safety
Seeking Safety is a present-focused, evidence-based therapy designed for those who have experienced trauma and are struggling with a co-occurring substance use disorder. This therapy emphasizes the importance of creating a safe environment first, creating coping skills, and developing self-compassion necessary for long-term recovery.
SMART Recovery
SMART Recovery (Self-Management and Recovery Training) is an evidence-based program that allows individuals to recover from addiction in a self-directed and active manner. It gives clients the tools to manage their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions and can complement or substitute traditional 12-step programs.
SuperHealth
SuperHealth is a wellness-focused program that utilizes nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes to support the body’s ability to heal itself throughout addiction treatment and afterward. This approach also enhances the physical component of whole-person recovery.
Adventure Therapy
Adventure Therapy utilizes guided experiences to promote teamwork, trust-building, confidence, and resilience. Adventure therapy provides clients with the opportunity to conquer structured challenges in real life as they develop self-efficacy and interpersonal skills that can be applied to recovery.
Stories of Strength from our SOBA Community
The voices of our alumni tell the story better than we ever could. These are real-life, true recovery stories of people whose lives have been rebuilt.
