Addiction Is Close to Home. So Is the Help You Need
The addiction crisis has been devastating to Middlesex County and throughout the state. Individuals and families across East Brunswick and surrounding communities are suffering from substance use disorders, regardless of demographics, background, or circumstance. In our region, opioid overdose rates, alcohol use, and co-occurring mental health disorders are among the most significant public health threats facing us today.
Fortunately, many people have been able to recover with treatment. Research shows that people who participate in structured evidence-based treatment can reduce or stop substance use, prevent relapse, and improve their overall quality of life.[1] At SOBA New Jersey, we take pride in being a trusted rehabilitation provider in Middlesex County and New Brunswick, offering hope and holistic healing in your community.
The addiction crisis is real, and it’s closer to home than you may realize:
- 5,869 Middlesex County residents entered treatment for substance use disorders in 2022, and alcohol and heroin accounted for 76% of all admissions.
- Though deaths from drug overdose have declined recently, the state still sees thousands of overdose deaths each year.
- Approximately 1 in 12 New Jersey adults meets the criteria for a substance use disorder, yet nearly two-thirds do not receive treatment.

A Full Continuum of Care for Your Entire Recovery Journey
At SOBA, we offer a number of different ways for you to get treatment and achieve recovery. Everyone comes into the process with their own unique circumstances. We have developed levels of care that are specifically designed to give you the best chance of completing your recovery journey.
Medical Detox
The first step for many people in their recovery journey is to safely detox from the substance they were using. Our detox program is offered 24 hours a day and will be set up for you to feel comfortable as your body cleanses itself. Our trained staff will monitor and treat you throughout the process with clinical support, medications to alleviate withdrawal symptoms such as discomfort, nausea, and anxiety, and will physically and mentally prepare you to start the therapy portion of your total program. Although detox is not a standalone treatment program, it is the foundation on which all other aspects of your program will be built.
Residential Treatment
During your stay in our residential program, you will receive 24-hour clinical support in a therapeutic setting away from the stressors and triggers of the outside world. While you are a resident, you will participate in individual and group therapy, skill-building programs, and activities that contribute to holistic wellness as part of a supportive community of others in recovery. The goal of residential treatment is to help you make a dramatic and lasting change in a setting that makes your healing the only priority.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
PHP provides the benefits of an inpatient treatment program without requiring an overnight stay. During the day, clients will have access to clinical support through structured programming, including group therapy, psychoeducation, and group wellness activities. At night, the client will return to their home or sober living setting. PHP is ideal for those stepping down from residential treatment or for those who need an increased level of clinical support while still living at home.
Intensive Outpatient Program
Our IOP program was designed to provide clients with more flexible yet structured and meaningful clinical support. Clients continue to receive extensive clinical care 3 to 5 times per week through group therapy, individual counseling, and skill development, while still being free to fulfill work, school, and family responsibilities. IOP is best for clients transitioning from PHP or who have extensive clinical support needs but don't require residential care.
Outpatient Program (OP)
The outpatient program provides ongoing support to clients who have established a foundation of recovery and are ready to continue receiving support at a reduced frequency. The primary focus of OP sessions is to develop and maintain coping skills, prevent relapse, explore any continuing challenges, and prepare for long-term independent living. Clients in OP will continue to build a therapeutic relationship with their treatment team and stay connected to their recovery community during this major transition.
Sober Living
Even after an inpatient treatment program is completed, recovery does not stop. Sober living homes provide a safe, structured, and sober environment for clients to implement what they've learned from their treatment program and rebuild their independence. The combination of house rules, peer accountability, and ongoing support provides a safety net for the transition from intensive treatment to fully assuming the responsibilities of daily living in recovery.
Evidence-Based and Holistic Therapies That Support Lasting Recovery
Our clinical teams incorporate various therapeutic approaches into each individualized care plan, including:
