SOBA New Jersey is honored to be recognized in Newsweek’s 2026 America’s Best Residential Addiction Treatment Centers in New Jersey. This recognition represents what we work toward at SOBA each and every day: building an environment for our clients and their families that provides compassionate, structured addiction treatment and gives them hope for a better future.

Every year, Newsweek ranks residential and long-term addiction treatment centers across the country. To create the 2026 list, Newsweek partnered with Statista to create a comparison tool that evaluates how well different treatment centers serve patients managing substance use disorders and related issues.

For SOBA NJ, this mention is deeply meaningful because it truly aligns with the work we do within our walls. Addiction treatment is personal. Clients need to trust the staff that delivers their care. They need access to experienced clinicians and appropriate structure. And most of all, they need to be respected and treated as individual human beings with families, goals, and a future. Being recognized among other New Jersey-based treatment centers is truly an honor.

What the Newsweek 2026 Ranking Represents

Selecting a residential addiction treatment center for yourself or a loved one can be daunting, and many family members are making these difficult choices while they are scared, worried, or uncertain if it will even work. While rankings like Newsweek should not be your only reference point for researching treatment providers, they can certainly give you some direction when evaluating potential providers.

According to Newsweek, its 2026 rankings focused solely on treatment providers offering inpatient residential or long-term addiction treatment services, meaning facilities that only provide outpatient services were not included. They also focused on states with the largest numbers of addiction treatment centers using data reported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Newsweek’s methodology consisted of four key components:

This was based on recommendation and assessment ratings from addiction treatment professionals and leadership at various treatment providers.

Credentials

Whether or not treatment providers had proper licensing and accreditation.

The availability of recovery support, educational services, counseling, and other forms of support.

Based on review information from Rehabs.com, Recovery.com, and Google Reviews.

Newsweek also did not allow survey participants to recommend their own employers. This helps make the rating less influenced by self-interest and more reflective of third-party and client opinions.
