Biography

Joshua is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) in the state of New Jersey. He graduated from Rutgers University with an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Philosophy and  a graduate degree in Clinical Social Work. Additionally, he earned a certificate in addiction counseling through completion of the Rutgers Addiction Certificate Training (ACT) program through the Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work. Since graduating, he has completed training in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and is working towards certification.

With over 5 years of clinical practice experience working in a variety of outpatient and inpatient treatment settings, Josh has worked with diverse client populations. Coming from a Mindfulness and Buddhist Psychology background with over 14 years of personal practice, he remains person-centered and trauma-informed in his work with the people he serves. Josh utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills, Self-Compassion, and EMDR in his approach to therapeutic work.

Josh is trained to target traumatic memories, distressing emotions, and beliefs using EMDR and believes every individual he works with has inherent worth, strengths, and resilience which can be used to actualize their goals and begin to heal themselves. Drawing from neuroscience, Josh seeks to provide the skills, care, education, and resources to help people learn to soothe their nervous system and connect with their values. Josh believes in the importance of normalizing the vast and sometimes difficult experience of being human in the journey to healing. The foundation of his practice includes an emphasis on the healing power of connection, non-judgment, and empowerment.
